Mythbusters: Collection 8

Collection Eight is Great!
This new Mythbusters Collection set consists of ten episodes from season 7 on two dvds. In fact, if you were to buy Season Seven from the Discovery store (as I recently did), the same episodes would be on discs three & four of that set. The only difference between the discs is the order the episodes are in and that the discs that come in the Mythbusters Collection 8 set have subtitles. I find it really strange that the season set doesn't have subtitles. The screen image is anamorphic widescreen - so it fills the whole screen. Something that I did find a bit odd - there are four photos from the Mythbusters shows on the back of the dvd case - none of which are from any of the episodes in this collection.

Episode List
* Disc One:
* Mythssion Control
* No Pain, No Gain
* Duct Tape Hour 2
* Waterslide Wipeout
* Fire Ball Stun Gun

Disc Two:
* Flu Fiction
* Store Chasing Myths
* Hair of the Dog
* Arrow Machine Gun
*...

What you can learn. LOL
Got this for my father and he loves it. The things you can find out. Makes learning something new fun.

A "Must Have"
Any Mythbuster fan knows you got to have them all. This one is nothing short of awesome. You won't be disappointed.

TCM Greatest Classic Legends: Cary Grant (Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House / My Favorite Wife / Night and Day / The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer)

great movies
'The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer' is one of my favorite movies of all time, and Cary Grant one of my favorite actors. To have all these movies in one collection is absolutely wonderful. "Mr. Blandings.." and "My Favorite Wife" are hilarious!!

This is when Movies were entertaining and not trash.
We love all the classic films that were made when Hollywood made great entertainment. Today all we seem to be offered in movies is nudity, lots of cussing, sex, drugs, gangs, extreme violence and remakes. Thank goodness for DVD's, we have built quite a collection since nothing on TV these days is worth our time.

Three hits and a near-miss in an economical set
This is a set of four DVD's starring Cary Grant packed onto one hub in an economical set from TCM.

MY FAVORITE WIFE (1940) has Nick Arden (Cary Grant) remarrying immediately after his first wife, Ellen Wagstaff Arden (Irene Dunne) was declared dead, seven years to the day she was lost at sea. But Cary can't consummate the new marriage because Ellen comes back and keeps getting in the way, even posing as an old family friend to reacquaint herself with her children. What's worse, Ellen was shipwrecked on an uncharted island with hunky "Adam" (Randolph Scott) for all those years. Cary has to contend with his jealousy and the moral and legal complications of having two wives and not quite knowing what to do with either. A very funny comedy of errors that holds interest all the way through. The attempted 1962 remake of this movie, SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE, halted production when Marilyn Monroe died but was remade in 1963 as MOVE OVER, DARLING with James Garner and Doris...

Ga-Rei-Zero: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

short and sweet
I watched this show a while back when it appeared on hulu and overall was very impressed. I went into this knowing absolutly nothing about the original source material and what I found was a concise and satisfying storyline with excellent animation. Like all anime this show does contain some elements that are a little outlandish, one scene in particular towards the end of the series was completely ridiculous, but this aspect is kept to an absolute minimum. Where Garie Zeros really hits is in the emotional impact of the of the bonds formed between the two main charcters and the horrible realities of the events surrounding them. Although the conclusion becomes obvious before the end arrives, and some holes are left open leading into the manga, this is easily one of the most streamlined stories I have encountered in recent history. In short this is a good show for anyone looking for a show that delivers both intense action and a excellent character devolpment without the commitment of a...

5 Star Action & Friendship Anime
Note: This is a review of the anime series and not this particular package deal, because it was written before the deal was available for purchase.

This anime series is a prelude the the storyline of Ga-Rei. It offers solid action, friendship development, character complexity/development, animation quality, and emotional impact. Its soundtrack did not particularly stand out as well as the voice acting. The 3-dimensional animation seems quite poor for the current standards (there is not much of this). There are 12 episodes total and all are normal TV episode length. Warning that the first two episodes are nearly all action, but the third episode begins the main story. The ending to the anime is very predictable due to it being a prelude to Ga-Rei and due to the manor in which the anime presents itself. Overall this anime is for people who are interested in seeing an action packed story of the friendship between two sisters.

Reviewer note: Yumi, who is one of the...

Action, Comedy and Sisterly Love
I really didn't know what to expect from this series. I hadn't heard much about it, only the little clips I stumbled across on youtube. I had thought at first that it was a Yuri, so I avoided it. (Just not my thing.) It wasn't until I read a couple of reviews that I realized that it wasn't.

What it turned out to be was a wonderful and bittersweet story that combines action, humor and love, and love in it's different forms. The beautiful sisterly relationship between Yomi and Kagura, the romantic love and also the love for family.

The animation is fantastic. Beautiful artwork with fluid motions. Less 'freeze frames' during the action scenes than you would see in older anime. You actually get to see the fighting rather than a character brandishing a sword with a fierce look on their face, the frame freezing and then seeing the defeated 'baddy' on the ground.

I watched the dub version of this, and it is probably one of the best I've seen. I was especially...

Super Villains: The Jokers Last Laugh

Hardly The Best Collection of Joker Episodes
Honestly, I did not buy this DVD after seeing the episode listing. I already own the complete series' of "Batman: The Animated Series", "The Batman", "Batman Beyond", and "Batman The Brave And The Bold".

The episode selection was very poor indeed. A great example of this being "All Hail The Tornado Tyrant" which ONLY features the Joker in the teaser portion before the theme song starts. Why include a Brave & Bold episode where Joker is only in the teaser instead of say, "Joker the Vile & Villanous" where Joker actually takes over the whole episode! Or the two parter "Deep Cover For Batman" and "Game Over For Owlman" which features Batman teaming up with the Joker in both episodes (although one is an alternate reality Joker as a hero).

We also don't get any Joker episodes from Justice League, and the episodes from Batman Beyond don't even have the Joker at all and could've easily been remedied by using the Batman Beyond movie "Return Of The Joker".

The...

Not so great, but still worth it.
The first disc is amazing. It has a lot of great episodes with the joker. The second disc on the other hand...not so great. A few of the episodes on the second disc don't even have the joker in them! I was very disappointed. Although the second disc was crappy, I would still recommend it. It is worth it for the first disc.

Worth Every Penny
This assortment of episodes are a fantastic gift/purchase for any fan of the Joker, and Batman. I relived my childhood while watching this collection, and will look into purchasing the other Super Villain DVDs

Yes, Some More NEW-to-DVD Scooby-Doo Episodes, But...
Well, once again, we get another new themed compilation of both already-on-DVD and NEW-to-DVD Scooby-Doo episodes. First to clarify the number of episodes on this set.
